Diploma in Applied Ministry

The Diploma is IMBTC’s foundational programme and the route most of our graduates take into ordained ministry. Over six intensive months you study the fivefold ministry in depth — the ministry of the apostle, the prophet, the evangelist and missions, pastoral care and ethics, and the teaching ministry — alongside discipleship, church growth, leadership skills, and church management and administration.

Three further strands run through the programme: Christian counselling (methods of counselling, secular and modern approaches, and psychological counselling), ministerial ethics and ceremonies (weddings, naming, funerals, communion, dedications and installations), and homiletics — how to build and deliver a sermon that feeds people. You will preach, you will counsel, and you will conduct ceremonies before you graduate.

Learning outcomes:

1.Identify and explain the five offices of Ephesians 4:11 and articulate where your own calling sits within them.
2. Build and deliver an expository sermon from a chosen text, with a clear theme, structure and application.
3. Conduct the ordinances and ceremonies of the church — weddings, naming, funerals, communion, dedications and installations — correctly and with confidence.
4. Provide first-line biblical counsel in common pastoral situations, and recognise when to refer a case on.
5. Apply basic church administration to a local congregation: records, finance, departmental structure and follow-up.
6. Demonstrate ministerial ethics and personal discipline in dress, speech, timekeeping and handling of church resources.
