For ministers who want depth: systematic theology, Old and New Testament studies, church history, apologetics, Christian education, comparative religious studies and psychological counselling.
Masters study at IMBTC is where ministry becomes reflective. You choose one of four specialisations and pursue it in seminar rather than lecture: Theology, for those who will teach and defend doctrine; Christian Education, for those building the teaching life of a church or school; Pastoral Counselling & Ethics, for those carrying the weight of people’s private lives; and Church Management & Administration, for those responsible for structure, finance and governance. Core seminars in research method and the theology of ministry are taken by all students.
The centre of the programme is your supervised research project — a question drawn from your own ministry context, investigated properly and written up to a standard you could defend anywhere. You present your findings to faculty and peers, and you learn in the process to read critically, to cite honestly, and to mentor those coming behind you. Many of our Masters graduates go on to teach at Diploma level in the College.
